Educational Development Corporation (EDC), a U.S. distributor of children's books from the UK, faced challenges due to rapid growth that outpaced their legacy technology, resulting in a backlog of over 40,000 orders. Their system, limited to processing 6,000 orders a day, struggled to scale within their 230K square foot warehouse without additional labor. To address these issues, EDC implemented Deposco's solution, recommended by their logistics partner.
Deposco significantly improved inventory visibility, optimized various warehouse processes, and integrated with EDC's existing Sage X3 ERP system. This transition reduced order fulfillment costs by over 77%, saving the company substantial amounts annually. Labor efficiencies also improved, allowing EDC to reduce warehouse shifts from three to two per day, while increasing throughput to over 10,000 orders per shift, eliminating backlogs, and achieving an order accuracy rate of over 98%.
As a result of these improvements, EDC was able to scale effectively, earning recognition as a Top 10 Fastest-Growing Retailer in the U.S. by Internet Retailer in 2018, and reaching the highest stock price in company history, celebrated by ringing the closing bell at NASDAQ.
